Marcos Sastre M.D.

Dr. Marcos Sastre
Dr Sastre was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He attended the prestigious Escuela Normal de Profesores Mariano Acosta to become a teacher thus following a family tradition. His ancestor of the same name was born in 1808, held three doctoral degrees and when Argentina was still a Spanish colony, was a prominent educator and founder of many schools.
At the age of 19, the young Marcos Sastre joined the University of Buenos Aires after a year
of Pre- Med.

His Early Medical Career

His career in the Facultad de Medicina lasted 6 years.
His experience in Medicine was very varied since he practiced as a young doctor in under-served poor areas of the Province of Buenos Aires in Family Medicine, Pediatrics and Ob-Gyn.
For a brief period, he worked as Director of Medical Research in Johnson and Johnson Argentina. Thus he obtained an insider’s view of the pharmaceutical industry.
Being fluent in English after 7 years of study, he decided to immigrate to the United States in
1972 for residency training.
He was an Intern in Pediatrics at the Misericordia Hospital in The Bronx, N.Y. in ’72-’73.
During the years 1973-1977 he attended the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for residency training in Anatomical and Clinical Pathology.

Dermatology Training

In July 1977 he joined the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in The Bronx, N.Y for residency
training in Dermatology.
In 1980 he became Board Certified in Dermatology.
His teaching experience includes his tenure as Clinical Instructor in Dermatology at the Albert
Einstein College of Medicine Residency Training Program.
He is author of papers in Pathology and Dermatology and member of numerous medical societies including a fellowship on the American Academy of Dermatology, the Society for Mohs’ Surgery, the Dermatology Foundation, the Society for Investigative Dermatology, the Plymouth County Medical Society, the Massachusetts Medical Society, the American Medical Society and the American Society of Dermatological Surgery.
In forty years as a physician and over thirty as a dermatologist, pathologist and skin surgeon teaching generations of students, residents and physician assistants has been one of Dr. Sastre’s passions, following a family tradition of teachers as noted above.
He is married to Rosa M. Sastre, his wife of 38 years. They have two grown up children. They have resided in Hingham, MA for 30 years.
